The West Bank, although recognized as a Palestinian territory, is largely controlled by Israeli Defense Forces. With a population comprised of mostly Palestinian nationals and intermittent pockets of Israeli settlements the small area of land is a hot bed of conflict. The constant underlying hostility that both people groups feel for one another has left them feeling vulnerable, frightened, and on guard.  The hostility goes beyond physical safety and spills into all aspects of life for residents of Israel and the West Bank. It is because of this hostility and unrest that economic stability is still just beyond reach for most families.

The biggest impediments to economic improvements in the West Bank remain Palestinians’ lack of access to land and resources in Israeli-controlled areas, import and export restrictions, and a high-cost capital structure. Without robust private sector growth, the PA will continue to rely heavily on donor aid for its budgetary needs.(Central Intelligence Agency World Factbook)

The number one provider of income, tourism, has become almost extinct in areas that were once bustling with vacationers and tourists. Jericho, at one time an oasis in the desert not far from the Dead Sea, is one of the areas most effected by this decline. Businesses, especially restaurants, struggle to stay afloat because of the loss of ample clientele. In alliance with local governments and existing businesses, we help facilitate secure jobs and income stability through job creation, micro loans and business partnerships such as Green Valley Restaurant, Seeds of Hope Tours, and a Water Well/Bottling Company that aid in the private sector growth.

There are a great many opportunities to be realized in the West Bank. Agricultural development is key to sustained income and growth. Seeds of Hope has partnered with local farmers to produce Date Palm farms and Chicken/Egg Farms that would provide an income for their families as well as provide local produce and meat at a reasonable price to the community that otherwise struggles to afford daily needs. With the help of organizations like Seeds of Hope, those opportunities become less of a dream and more of a reality.
