The population of Jericho and the West bank is estimated at 4 million, of which 65% are under the age of 24 and 43% are under the age of 15. These young people grow up without much hope for their future. They are largely uneducated and unskilled. Jobs are few with a limited financial base for providing families with a steady income.
Seeds of Hope is developing a Cultural Learning Center targeting these young people with programs to train them in computer skills, English language (an essential tool in securing a good job) and seminars which will focus on teaching democracy, tolerance, and peace. When young people have the skills needed to secure a good paying job, a window of hope for the future opens and communities become stable.
The Center would also be equipped with a billiard table, various workout machines, and snacks and drinks would be provided. Some of the funds for the development stage of this project have been secured. However, there are still many needs.
